Delmatic has supplied a lighting control system with emergency testing and monitoring for Bosworth House, part of the De Montfort University in Leicester.
The £4.5m project includes refurbishing and extending the 1970s Bosworth House and transforming it into a new, state of the art teaching facility. A new eight storey tower has been constructed and the existing tower block and low rise building have been completely renovated to accommodate new classrooms and lecture theatres.
Key criteria for the lighting and controls were to provide energy efficiency as well as a comfortable and pleasant working environment for students and staff alike. Delmatic worked closely with the design team to deliver a good design solution based on their experience within the education market, which would meet the needs of each space. Lighting in classrooms and offices is equipped with Dali addressable dimming ballasts and flexible Dali controls while corridor lighting is controlled on a circuit basis. Multisensors in classrooms and offices optimise energy efficiency by switching lighting off in unoccupied rooms and through daylight linking which reduces illumination in areas where sufficient natural daylight is available.
The Delmatic system includes scene-setting within the lecture theatres enabling selection of programmed lighting scenes and allowing illumination levels to be raised or lowered to suit the function of the room.
Delmatic has provided a versatile system that incorporates differing light levels for the purposes of security, maintenance, cleaning and normal occupancy modes, and which can easily be configured to suit changing requirements user. The system provides substantial energy savings, achieves longer lamp life as a result of the shorter burning times and, in turn, reduces maintenance costs which enhance the financial savings.
