Delmatic are supplying a lighting management and emergency lighting monitoring system for the new Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre.
The state-of-the-art complex includes a 25m main pool, 17m learner pool, fitness suite and spinning studio, exercise and dance studios, climbing wall, four court sports hall, together with crèche and soft play areas. In addition to a poolside sauna, steam room and spa pool, the full scale Spa includes hot rooms, aroma steam rooms, and different water based treatments, similar to those in Roman baths. The leisure centre is located within Verulamium Park and the centre’s café/bistro has a large terrace overlooking the nearby Grade 1 listed Abbey.
The Delmatic system provides networked control of lighting throughout the complex including testing and monitoring emergency lighting across the site. The system provides a combination of switching and Dali dimming, and includes energy-efficient presence detection and daylight-linking which relates lighting to occupancy and the extent of daylight.
Multi-function spaces, such as the studio, gym and pool require different lighting levels dependent on how the space is being used and the Delmatic system includes scene-setting within these areas. The system is managed and monitored via the head end pc in the manager’s office and may also be controlled from touch screen panels located around the centre.
The system incorporates distributed intelligence and the control hardware contains built-in intelligence such that local operations continue to function even in the event of nonoperation of system outstations. The system includes future-proofing, and is designed for long and reliable operation to provide sustainability and re-use in the medium and long term, while the software virtual wiring provides the ability to reconfigure the centre to meet varying uses. The system provides full Dali testing and monitoring of emergency luminaires across the site.
